Abraham Maslow
1908-1970
Father of Modern Management,
Founder of Humanist Psychology,
Best known for "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs"
Among the things that made Maslow's work unique and ground-breaking was he studied what he called exemplary people such as Albert Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt and Fredrick Douglass rather than mentally ill people. He believed the study of crippled, stunted,
immature, and unhealthy specimens can yield only a cripple psychology and a
cripple philosophy. When studying college students, he focused on the healthiest top 1% of the college student population. (Motivation and Personality)
